Your Assessment Journey

At Different Minds (ADHD–ASD Norfolk), our ADHD and Autism assessments are designed to give you or your child a clear and accurate understanding of strengths, challenges, and whether ADHD or Autism is part of your/their neurodiversity profile.

A diagnosis can be life-changing, offering clarity, direction, and access to the right support.

1. Initial Contact with Our Team

We start with a calm, friendly conversation to understand your concerns and decide the best next steps for you or your child. You can contact us by phone, email, or online form.

2. Screening forms

We send you digital forms via email to complete. These help us understand your / your child’s experiences and may include:

ADHD/Autism rating scales (for you/your child and someone who knows you well)

Developmental history

School/teacher questionnaires (if assessing a child)

Background and wellbeing information

3. Diagnostic Interview

You attend a structured diagnostic interview with one of our clinicians.
Together, we explore:

Your / your child’s history

Strengths and challenges

Attention, organisation, routines, emotional wellbeing

Social communication and daily functioning (depending on pathway)

How difficulties affect life at home, work, or school

This is a calm, supportive conversation designed to help us understand you clearly.

Alongside the interview, we use evidence-based tools suitable for your / your child’s age and presentation, such as:

Standardised ADHD/Autism questionnaires

QbCheck (for ADHD, if appropriate)

ABAS-3 adaptive functioning tools

Observational and developmental assessments

Screening for co-existing or overlapping conditions

This gives us a full, accurate picture of needs.

4. Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Review

Your assessment is reviewed by our MDT, which may include:

Psychiatrists

Psychologists

Specialist clinicians

This ensures every assessment is NICE-compliant, thorough, and clinically safe.

5. Diagnostic Outcome & Detailed Report

You receive a comprehensive clinical report which includes:

The diagnostic conclusion

A clear explanation of the evidence gathered

Tailored recommendations for school, work, and home

Signposting to further support or treatment options

If you / your child do not meet diagnostic criteria, we still provide clear guidance and next steps.
